Girls Inc. of New Hampshire Celebrates Year’s Achievements

Girls’ Speeches and Special Awards highlight Annual Dinner

July 9, 2008, Manchester, NH: Girls Incorporated of New Hampshire staff members, board members, top donors, volunteers and regional Girl of the Year honorees and their families recently gathered for the Annual Dinner to celebrate the past year’s accomplishments. Cathy Duffy, CEO and Jeffrey Mason, Board of Director’s Chair presented the year’s top awards: the President’s Award, to board member Mark Adamy for excellence in board participation and support, the Silver Dollar Award to Comcast for their outstanding Corporate Partner support, accepted by Mark Adamy, the Advocacy for Girls Award to Nicole Power, Greater Nashua Regional Director, for over and above efforts to reach more girls, and the Outstanding Achievement Award to all members of the agency’s Resource Development Committee for their impressive major gift campaign efforts. Volunteer Recognition Awards were presented to Amanda Jobel by the Concord Girls’ Center, Destiney Davis by the Nashua Girls’ Center and 3 awards presented by the Manchester Girls’ Center went to, Jeanne Corbett and Gretchen Silverman, Citizens Bank New Hampshire Central Region, and Caroline Powers. Many top donors to the agency during the year were also present and recognized for their generosity.

The highlight of the evening came when each of the regional Girl of The Year winners gave their speeches. Each Girls Inc. of New Hampshire Region presents their Girl of The Year Awards at individual center celebrations, prior to the Annual Dinner. One of the privileges that come with the Girl of The Year title is speaking at various events throughout the coming year, with the Annual Dinner being the girls first speaking opportunity. Each girl shared her excitement over being chosen Girl of The Year and her individual story as to what being a member of Girls Inc. of New Hampshire means to her and how it helps her to achieve her personal best.

Girls Incorporated of New Hampshire, with subsidiaries in So. Maine and Windsor County, VT, is a member-based organization for girls ages 6 to 18.
